All stakeholders in India have adopted USB-C as the standard charging port.

USB-C as the standard charging port

Type c port by Vinkal Prajapati

The decision to use USB-C as the standard charging connector was made by all parties involved, including smartphone makers, in a central inter-ministerial task force meeting yesterday.

But there's a problem. It will be carried out in stages. In any scenario, consumers will benefit when the market eventually has a universal charging connector. Watch to see how.

USB-C charging ports

Mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and other electronic gadgets will all have USB-C charging ports. Wearables are not included in the list of devices. To determine whether a standard charging port makes sense for gadgets like smartwatches, fitness bands, etc., a special sub-group will be established.

Basic or feature phones may be given a different charging port even within the phone category.

Therefore, not all electronic gadgets are covered by the new ruling. However, this is a step in the right direction, for what it's worth.

The standard charging port may be implemented gradually, according to an official statement, "so that it may be utilised by the industry and adopted by customers amicably."

Now is approximately the time when new smartphones, laptops, and tablets will support USB-C. We won't have to worry about shopping for or lugging about several charger types. From an ecological perspective, this can result in "mindful and wasteful consumerism" rather than more e-waste.
